In the movie, Phil states, “This is pitiful. Phil Connors is a self-absorbed character that learns through time and experience that happiness is not fulfilled through his own desires, but found in a true friendship.Īs stated before, Phil’s persona flirts with that of a narcissist. Yet, as the movie moves forward, he finds himself caught up in a bit of a troubled situation as he learns he is not happy with himself. The beginning of the film is full of humor as Connors becomes accustomed to the fact that he will keep on reliving the same day again, again, and again. Phil finds himself repeating one of the most dreadful days of the year in his opinion, that being Groundhog’s Day in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania in the middle of winter. In other words, his personality is playing around with the term “narcissist”. Phil Connors is in fact a cruel character who is overly self involved and selfish. However, this review goes the opposite direction. If a person is interested, they can type in “ Groundhog Day movie review” in a Google search box and find the basic plot overview and go on their way with their life. As the movie gets more than fifteen minutes in however Bill Murray finds himself in a bit of a situation. One would expect this however because it is a comedy and his negative sarcasm is just a good tactic for humor.
